Dave Brubeck Quartet – Live At Juan-Pins 1967 + 3 bonus tracks Label: Domino Jazz 2013

cover m (10)This CD contains two never before released concerts by the Dave Brubeck Quartet with Paul Desmond. The opening show features the group playing in Antibes in 1967 in one of its last recorded concerts before it disbanded in December of that same year. The bonus set is unique, as it presents the Dave Brubeck Quartet’s only existing recordings with Bobby Hackett and Benny Goodman. It includes an outstanding quartet version (with Hackett) of “Poor Butterfly,” a tune Brubeck never recorded again, as well as Desmond’s only existing reading of “On the Sunny Side of the Street”.
