Lennie Tristano – 1964-65 Note To Note
This LP-length CD contains five improvisations by pianist Lennie Tristano and bassist Sonny Dallas on “originals” based closely on common chord patterns and melodies. It was Tristano’s wish that drums be added to these tapes at a later date so his daughter Carol Tristano overdubbed her rather basic timekeeping in 1993. Tristano collectors and completists will be interested in acquiring this CD but in reality the music is just average and nothing all that surprising occurs.

The original tapes were recorded by Lennie Tristano at his studio on Palo Alto Street in Hollis, New York, during informal sessions with Sonny Dallas in 1964-1965. It was Lennie’s wish that this music be released with drums added. The music was re-recorded with Carol Tristano in 1993.
