Frank Sinatra
Alone in the Studio
(liberated bootleg – no label information available)

Unreleased sessions for the Reprise album ALL ALONE

January 15-17, 1961

Gordon Jenkins, arranger

1. The Song Is Ended [January 15]
2. All Alone [January 15]
3. Charmaine [January 15]
4. When I Lost You [January 15]
5. Indiscreet [January 16 - mainly session chatter]
6. What’ll I Do [January 17]
7. Oh How I Miss You Tonight [January 17]
8. Are You Lonesome Tonight [January 17]
9. Come Waltz with Me [January 17 - false start only]
10. Promos

Excerpts from the sessions for ALL ALONE, with alternate takes, incomplete takes, false starts, studio chatter, etc., plus a lengthy track of Sinatra recording radio station promotional clips. There’s a bit of tape hiss, otherwise the sound quality is excellent. As usual, this is recommended more for hardcore aficionados than the more casual listener.

Trivia note: The ethereal female backing vocal heard on “The Song Is Ended” and “All Alone” comes from Loulie Jean Norman, whose most widely heard performance would probably be the theme music for the original STAR TREK television series.
